Scripture of Encouragement for Women: Encouraging Devotional for Difficult Days

Life can be weary, we all feel it from time to time. Take a moment or two to read this scripture of encouragement for women, especially if you a season that feels trying.

If it feels like you should be opening your windows, finding new recipes and planting all the things in your garden…right now, I want to encourage you! God gave us seasons, as an ebb and flow in our lives to help us. Just as we have yearly weather changes, we have changes in the years of our life.

It’s okay to feel frustrated or unsure about what you are stepping into. Coming from a winter season, whether a physical cold season or spiritual one, there is always biblical encouragement to wake you up and help you grow in your faith.

As a mom I have felt the exhaustion that seems to overtake the joy and have needed God’s renewal more than any other time in my life.

If you have felt that or are currently experiencing that, take comfort in these scriptural encouragements.

Scripture of Encouragement for Women

Encouragement When You Feel Spiritually Dry

Psalm 23:2-3

Spring is the time when we feel refreshed and it is God’s way of giving us permission to slip down into His green pastures and renew what winter took from us.

Winter can be a season of rest but it can also feel like a long season of waiting. We may feel “stiff” or a little bit parched after that season when we had to cling to God, waiting for the right opportunity or time. Let this season be a season when you are restored, renewed and ready for God’s movement in your life!

When You’ve Made Mistakes and Need a Reset

Lamentations 2:22-23

I use this verse many times because it is a beautiful reminder of God’s renewal, everyday. We can trust that each day is new, because God made it so and He will renew us every morning.

Whatever mistakes you made, God’s grace will wash you clean. When you end your day seeking forgiveness and wake in the morning seeking God’s righteousness, you are made new. It is the reset we all need!

When You Feel Like Nothing is Growing

Philippians 1:6

I am not a gardener by any means and I have felt the frustration of planting seeds and seeing nothing come up. But I’ve also felt this in a less literal sense. Planting seeds in life and seeing no growth, or having growth but no fruit.

It can be discouraging, feel like we wasted time and sometimes we never learn anything from it.

But it is God who makes the seeds grow. We can plant and water them but God is the one who gives them life. The same is true in our lives. It is not our job to make things grow. It is our job to plant and nurture where we can.

God will make things fruitful in His time. He asks that we continue to do His good work, even if we don’t see success. The way we distinguish success is different from God so we always should put our faith in His abilities, not our own.

Galatians 6:9

Harvest comes after planting, after you have put your trust in God and His provision. Keep doing the good work God has put on your heart. It will grow, you will harvest, don’t give up!

When Fear of the Future is Holding You Back

Psalm 91

I’m going to be honest, I don’t pay any attention to the news or current events. News to me is what my son did at school and current events are happening here in my home. My mission field is the four walls where I am growing my family and this blog (and podcast).

But I know the fear of the future, I have felt it tug at my heart as I think about my boys and what things will be like for them. I always stop myself and pull out Psalm 91 because that gives me the peace and the faith to keep doing what I am doing.

I pray this Psalm over my home and my family and teach them about discernment, God’s protection and how to pray. God didn’t promise our lives to be easy but He did promise to walk with us and if He is for us, who can be against us?
