A Psalm for your thoughts! A simple Psalm and a short blurb about the verse so you can carry it with you all day. Join me for a new Psalm every day this month!
Psalms is one of my favourite books of the Bible and this year I am digging deep into the verses to be encouraged and to encourage others!
My plan is to post one scripture a day with a small word about each verse. Nothing long or fancy but my hope is that you will carry the verse with you all day.
Reading a Psalm a day has helped me be reminded of God’s goodness, His faithfulness and His restoration. I have found it a refreshing time in the morning, coffee in one hand, Bible in the other.
So grab that coffee (or tea), get your book of Psalms ready and let’s dive in to a Psalm for your thoughts!

A Psalm for Your Thoughts

Join me everyday for a Psalm for Your Thoughts!
January 1
Listen carefully to what the Lord is saying, for He speaks peace to His faithful people.
Psalm 85:8
What a beautiful reminder to start the year with. Listen for the Lord’s voice, because He is speaking peace to those who are faithful. Seek Him this year, seek His word, seek His voice, seek His leading.
What is God telling you?
January 2
For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.
Psalm 86:6
Our God alone is God. We can have no other gods before Him but really why would we put anything ahead of God? He is great and does wondrous things in our lives!
Take time today to think about all the good things, big or small, God has given you!
January 3
Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.
Psalm 86:11
Seeking God means asking Him to reveal His plan to you. His teachings are the truth we should walk in. Your whole being needs to align with Him!
Ask the Lord to put on your heart His teachings and all He needs you to know.
January 4
But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
Psalm 86:15
Our God is a God of mercy. He sees our struggles and because of His steadfast love will save us. What an example He has set for us in how we should behave towards our family, friends, coworkers and that *annoying* person in the line ahead of us as the grocery store!
How are you practising God’s mercy today?
January 5
But I, O Lord, cry out to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.
Psalm 88:13
Start your day in prayer. Your messy hair and pj’s is exactly what God wants to see in the morning. Call out to Him, seek His wisdom and let Him set the direction for your day!
What are you calling out to God about today?
January 6
I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 89:1
This is for the mamas, for the aunties, for the Grandma’s and Nana’s, those who are sharing their love for Jesus with their families. We should sing of God’s love forever and with our song, share it with our children or the children around us. Let the next generation know of your faithfulness everyday!
How are you sharing God’s love today?
January 7
You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them.
Psalm 89:9
I’m always amazed at God’s abilities. How He tenderly cares for the smallest of lambs but in the same breath can still a raging sea. How can we doubt Him for even a second?
What amazing thing has God done for you today?
January 8
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
Psalm 89:14
When we think of building the foundation for something, righteousness and justice probably aren’t the first things that come to mind. And yet that is what our Heavenly Father’s throne is built on!
Not only that but His love and faithfulness go before Him.
He sets the perfect example for how we should live. We need to build our lives on his righteousness and truth and let His love go before us in every situation!
Keep God’s love ahead of you all day today!
January 9
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:2
It’s mind boggling to think that God existed before the earth was formed and will continue to exist after. He is everlasting to everlasting and for that simply unimaginable thought we should worship Him!
How will you praise God today?
January 10
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Psalm 90:14
I love spending time with God in the morning, it fulfills me all day. And when I make it a habit, part of my daily rhythm, it puts me on a course of joy so I can rejoice everyday of my life.
The deeper you find yourself in your Heavenly Father’s love, the bigger your cup gets and the more love you have to share with others!
How do you enjoy God’s steadfast love this morning?
January 11
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us
Psalm 90:17
Motherhood is a time when your hands are busy. Folding laundry, making meals, playing with toys, juggling a baby and toddler…all things that are done in a day. God sees us and when we seek Him, when we seek His favour we seek establishment for the work of our hands!
What are you doing today that you can thank God for?
January 12
I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91:2
The perfect verse to remind you where to turn when you are struggling. God is your refuge, He is your fortress, a stronghold that will withstand any storm. Trust Him, especially on the days when you feel like you will be blown away. Let Him be your anchor.
Whatever happens today, hold fast to God!
January 13
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
Psalm 91:4
A favourite verse of mine. The thought of being covered in a safety blanket of God’s wings, is such a comfort. To have a shield in the form of His faithfulness makes stepping into the day seem a little less daunting.
Take a breath today and enjoy being covered by God’s wings!
January 14
Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge—no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.
Psalm 91:9-10
This is a great verse to pray over your home. No evil will come near your space if you have made the Lord your dwelling place! If he is present in your home, you are building it on His solid foundation.
Pray this verse over your home today and be reminded that God is your refuge!

January 15
For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.
Psalm 92:4
God’s works are amazing. From the painted sunset to rippling rivers, the works of His hands are worth singing for joy! Even in the dark dreary days of winter, we have a God who has made good things with His hands
Look around you today, what wonderful works has God done in your life?

January 16
Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty!
Psalm 93:4
On the days when you doubt yourself, be reminded of who walks with you. Your God is mightier than the waves of the sea. He will be the solid rock you need for whatever wind blows your way.
Be encouraged today that your Heavenly Father can withstand any storm in your life!
January 17
When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up.
Psalm 94:18
Have you ever stepped on ice, not realizing it was there and your foot slips out from under you? There is a second of panic and uncertainty when you forget about everything but the fact that you need to save yourself from falling.
What if instead you think “Lord, help me!” God will be there to catch you for any little slip because His steadfast love surrounds you wherever you go!
Call out to God for any little slip that happens today!
January 18
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Psalm 95:2
Make a joyful noise today! Turn on that worship music and sing some songs of praise. When you are in God’s presence, worship Him for all He has done!
What is your favourite worship song?
January 19
The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
Psalm 95:5
It all belongs to God. Every ounce of this earth and everything on it is His because He made it! And yet even with all His power, He offers forgiveness, grace and love on the days when we fall short.
Give thanks to God for everything He has made!
January 20
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
Psalm 95:7
Thinking about our Heavenly Father as a shepherd, and we as His sheep is a comforting thought. He brings us to green pastures, protects us and carries our little ones close to His heart.
We are the sheep of His hand and He loves us!
Spend time resting in God’s presence today and enjoying your good shepherd’s protection.
January 21
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Psalm 98:4
Break out your favourite worship music, sing, play an instrument, do whatever moves you to give thanks to God!
Where do you like to listen to worship music?
January 22
Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 100:3
Another reference to being God’s sheep because we are so blessed to be part of His pasture! He made us, He knows who we are at an intimate level and He still loves us, even when we make mistakes.
You are His, He who created the Heavens and the earth. Remind yourself of that today!

January 23
Hear my prayer, O LORD; let my cry come to you!
Psalm 102:1
There are times in our lives when we are joyful and times when we cry out in anguish. God hears us regardless of the situation. He hears your prayers and He will answer.
What is on your heart today that you are crying out to God about?
January 24
But you are the same, and your years have no end.
Psalm 102:27
This is a mind boggling thought, that God hasn’t changed and He never will. He had no start and He has no end, He will be as He always has been.
We can take comfort in knowing that He is steady, faithful and unchanging. What He says today will not be different tomorrow. His love does not wax and wane like the moon.
Stand firm on the Lord who is unmoving in all things!

It was you who set the boundaries of the earth; you who made both summer and winter
Psalm 74:17
A wonderful verse to remind us that every season has a purpose. God created summer and He created winter. So even on the coldest, darkest days we can trust there is a reason for it.
Lean into God during this winter season and remember God’s plan even when the days seem dismal.
January 26

January 27
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him.
Psalm 103:11
How much does God love us? As high as the heavens are above the earth (and beyond). We can’t even see that high, just as we can’t see all of God’s love for us.
Remember God’s love for you today and share it with your family!
January 28
Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!
Psalm 105:4
In all things we should seek God. His strength is what carries us past our morning coffee, it gives us the endurance to put one foot in front of the other all day long. We should seek His presence continually, always looking to Him and for His love!
Seek God in everything that you do today!
January 29
Yet He saved them for His name’s sake, that He might make known His mighty power.
Psalm 106:8
God saved His people from Pharaoh in a way no one was expecting. He is a God who works wonders so He can show those who live in disbelief who He is. And through this those who believe can grow stronger in their faith!
How has God made known his mighty power in your life?
January 30
For He satisfied the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.
Psalm 107:9
One of the wonderful things about our Heavenly Father is that He provides us with our daily bread. Whatever we seek, whatever we need to fill our hungry souls, He has it written down in the book He breathed out for us.
Reach for His word when you feel empty and let Him fill you!
What are you longing for today?
January 31
With God we shall do valiantly; it is He who will tread down our foes.
Psalm 108:13
When you say that you can do all things through Christ, you should mean it. God truly can conquer any and every foe. The key is to align our desires with His desires so we are fighting the same battles!
Remember you can do all things through Christ and with Him you will do valiantly!
