Whether you are stepping into the fall season or in the middle of your hectic life routine, it’s always a good time to create morning mercies.
I’m all about coffee and Jesus, I read a Psalm every morning because even on the craziest of days I want to start with God’s mercies! There are some simple ways to integrate morning mercies into your routine, eventually it becomes a natural part of your daily rhythm.
Here are some practical tips for family devotions that will work with busy schedules.

Creating Morning Mercies with Your Family
Wake Up with God
From the moment you wake up, let God be the first thing on your mind. Seek Him as you step out of bed.
I like to ask “What’s the plan for today God?” It gives me a sense of direction because I know God is the one with the ultimate plan.
Pray While Making Breakfast
As you prepare breakfast, pray over your family. Praying doesn’t always have to be done in a secret, quiet place. God is present in every part of our day and sometimes those kitchen prayers can be incredibly powerful!
Breakfast Blessings
Have each child thank God for one thing before eating breakfast! Whether it’s for the food on their plate or their favourite toy, let their thankfulness start their day.
Memory Verse Breakfast
For older children work on a memory verse while you eat. You can use scripture cards as a visual or open your Bible and read together!
Creation Observation/Weather Report
Look out the window (while eating or opening curtains for the day) and praise God for His creation.
For older children have them thank and praise God for the weather, regardless of what it is!
Backpack Blessings
Pray over your child’s bag as you pack their lunch and supplies. Tuck a Bible verse in their bag or a note with their lunch to remind them how loved they are!

Morning Mercies to Set Your Day Straight
We need to be intentional about bringing God into our lives, especially in our daily rhythms. Life with children can be chaotic, but He is the peace in that chaos.
When we create morning mercies it sets up our day. It helps our toddlers see the outdoors as God’s creation. It sends our children to school with God’s word on their minds. It starts your day with those morning mercies that will carry you through all the ups and downs!
Start your routine tomorrow and let your days transform from every morning mercy!
