It’s In the Waiting You Find God and His Strength – Isaiah 40:31

Waiting for God can feel like you are on the precipice of something, anticipating its coming but not being able to touch it. You know God’s timing is perfect but it feels like an eternity to get the wonderful thing He has in store for you.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

I have spent a good portion of my life waiting for something. God has given me glimpses of things, promises for my life and sometimes I can’t wait to get there.

The waiting time is a gift, just as all time is a gift. While it can feel agonizing to us, to God it is precious. Use the time to draw close to Him and gather strength for the coming journey.

Those expecting babies can relate. The 9 months of pregnancy can seem like an eternity. You just want that little bundle of joy to be in your arms so you can start to learn all about who they are and God’s plans for their lives.

Waiting for a Baby

This waiting period, this time when we are preparing for God’s plan, this is when we should be drawing close to God. If there is something coming, something good, something new, something scary, we need to be prepared for it.

This is the part we forget about.

As a mom we prepare our homes for the baby. We buy strollers and clothing, set up a nursery and organize all the baby paraphernalia but we also need to prepare our hearts for this child. We need to prepare ourselves for the fact that God is giving us a gift that will require our entire being 24/7 for many years.

In this preparation and waiting we need to also be finding God. We need to find good Christian moms we can connect with, blogs and books to read, podcasts to listen to and support systems so when that child comes, we have a community to help us.

And during this process, we need to draw close to God.

It is in these moments, these times of waiting when we see God’s strength. Not the kind of strength that crushes people but raises them up. He sustains us while we sit in the unknown, or the excitement. We will not be overwhelmed by this time because our God is with us and in the waiting we find Him.

It’s in the Waiting We Find God

Whether you are waiting for a baby or a new job or a life change, draw close to God. Being patient can be hard, especially if you are someone who wants to dive in quickly. But trust God’s timing. He wants to connect with you, talk to you, show you great and wonderful things and you can’t do that if you are too focused on what is to come.

It is good to plan for things but we also need to consciously seek God in the moment we are in. To connect with Him so He can strengthen us during this particular time.

Focus on God. Focus on His presence during those times of waiting so you can draw strength from Him and be prepared for the joy He has in store for you.
