The Best Bread Maker Pizza Dough
Bread Maker Pizza Dough

April 25, 2023 Update

I’m always looking for ways to improve recipes, just like this one! So here is an update on this pizza dough recipe with a few changes!

It’s Pi day today (March 14th – 3.14)! I’ll confess we had pizza yesterday, although we are still eating leftovers today. And yes, technically pizza isn’t a pie, but it does have circumference, so I thought it was still appropriate. Now I’m not a math person so that’s pretty much the extent I know about Pi! In my teaching days we used to do something pi/pie related, we even had kids make their own mini pies once. Of course I always tried to involve a math teacher to make sure I was explaining things correctly!

My next issue is why are there so many pizza dough recipes? Any variation you can think of and every time I go to make my dough I forget which recipe I like best. So here I am, writing it down somewhere I’ll never forget!

As I said, we made pizza yesterday. Of course E helped seeing as pizza is one of his specialties. He loves watching the bread maker as it spins around and I even let him touch the dough after it was done. Then I roll it out and he puts the toppings on. He’s getting pretty good at it now, no where near as messy as before. He also made chocolate pudding for dessert. That was a little more messy but very tasty!

Unfortunately I didn’t eat the pizza crust this time. I had another for myself (I found a low carb/keto friendly crust at our grocery store). It took a lot of will power to not eat the one E had made though. I do love bread. And the pizza had risen so nicely, the crust just lightly browned and the cheese perfectly cooked. *Sigh* but mine was still good, not real pizza dough good, but satisfying. I won’t deny that I’m looking forward to eating regular pizza again!

This recipe makes 2 pizzas. It makes a great leftover or I have also frozen half the dough and thawed it when I needed it. It is sure to please everyone!

Bread Maker Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 TBSP butter
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 TBSP sugar
  • 2 tsp yeast (I use traditional yeast)
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

Directions

  1. Add ingredients (in order listed) to bread machine.
  2. Set machine to the “dough” setting (this usually is about an hour and a half).
  3. Once the cycle is completed, remove dough and place on a floured surface.
  4. Roll dough into desired shapes/sizes. I usually do 2 round pizzas.
  5. Add toppings.
  6. I usually bake the pizza at 400F for about 15 minutes.
