Healthier Spinach Pizza Dough – Bread Maker Recipe

Wanting to add some veggies into your family’s diet? Try making this spinach pizza dough for your next supper meal!

I’m always on the lookout for recipes that add some nutrients in unexpected places. My toddler is notorious for being a picky eater and trying to get vegetables into him can be a chore.

He’ll eat pizza so I wanted to get more nutrients into the crust, the part that he can’t pick off!

Adding spinach is an easy method to add veggies to a meal without sacrificing taste or texture. This spinach pizza dough makes a beautiful pizza with a “Hulk green” colour that will make any kid want to eat it and become a superhero!

Notes:

This spinach pizza dough uses 1 cup of whole wheat flour and 3 cups of all-purpose flour. In my traditional Bread Maker Crust recipe I do 2 cups AP and 2 cups whole wheat, I have not tried that with this crust (yet). You can also do 4 cups of all-purpose flour if you prefer!

You will have to keep an eye on the dough for the first 10-15 minutes in the machine to ensure it is the right consistency. You want it to be tacky but not overly sticky. Humidity can affect your dough.

I typically bake my crust at 390 because my oven seems to run a little hot when up at 400. Do what works for your oven, or keep an eye on your pizzas to ensure they don’t get too brown!

Cooked pizza with toppings can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days or frozen for 3 months.
