As Christians it is important to cover your home in scripture. We know when we pray things in the name of Jesus Christ, and pray scripture that God will work through us.
It is incredibly important that we are anointing our homes with this same power so that every space our family steps into has been covered with prayer and has the Holy Spirit present.
Scriptures to pray over your home so you can be reminded of God’s presence everyday!
My Christian Home
I don’t pray over every space all the time. I’ll admit rooms like my laundry room and the “multipurpose/storage/workout” room doesn’t get much prayer. We don’t spend a lot of time in those areas though and I want to focus my prayers on the spaces where we inhabit.
I will say my children’s spaces get the most prayer. I pray over their space at bedtime as part of our routine. I want my boys to hear me seek the Holy Spirit so they know He is with them as they close their eyes.
We also have a living room and a “basement” living room. Neither is a media room (they both have TVs) nor are they an adult sitting room because there are toys everywhere. So it’s a space we inhabit as a family and spend time together, fellowshipping, playing and resting.
I love how the Bible speaks to all of these spaces and some scriptures can be used for each one. It doesn’t have to be fancy or formal because God doesn’t expect perfection, so long as we are doing it regularly.

Scriptures to Pray Over Your Home
Here are my favourite scriptures to pray over my home!
Entire Home
Say prayer over your house as a whole, the entirety of it, one entity under the protection of God!
Psalm 127:1
Entry-way
It’s incredibly important to pray over your entry area. The door, the doorframe and the threshold. Use this verse when praying over the entry (and back/side doors)!
Psalm 121:8
Living Room
The place where you gather together to enjoy each other, to unwind and to connect. Pray that God will bring His presence to this space and fill you with enjoyment!
Matthew 18:20
Kitchen
The heart of the home (my favourite spot too!) pray that those who make the meals would be blessed and that the food would nourish your family.
Matthew 6:11
Dining Room
If you’re like me your dining room might be attached to your kitchen as one big open space, so in that case, I pray over my table where we eat. I pray it is a space where we nourish our bodies but also our hearts through our conversations.
Acts 2:46
Bedrooms
As I said, I pray heavily over my children’s rooms. They spend a lot of time sleeping and we know the darkness has a way of causing terror for young children. I want them to hear that God is with them and will be casting peace over their room as they spend time there.
Psalm 4:8
Children’s Areas
For us the children’s area is wherever I am (lol). But mostly it is the living rooms because that is where the toys are. Pray for peace and harmony as they learn and grow together.
Psalm 121:5
Bathroom
As your children get older (and for yourself) they likely will spend more time in the bathroom. We often look at ourselves in the mirror and try to change our appearance, adjusting hair and makeup, fixing clothes and so on. Pray that your family would see themselves as God sees them, not to be influenced by worldly trends or ideas.
Psalm 51:10
Office
Pray for God’s discernment and that your work would glorify Him!
Proverbs 16:3
Laundry Room
This room needs prayer in two ways. One to pray for a heart of serving as you care for the needs of your family. But also pray over the clothes that your family wears so that they would be covered with God’s love and protection!
Colossians 3:23
Backyard
Thank God for His creation and the opportunity to enjoy it together! Maybe also pray for safety as your children run around!
