We are called to love, so why not share that love with some love prayers! Here are some examples for you to use.

The Bible calls us to love one another, those who are close to us and those who are not. There are many scriptures that call us to love, 1 John 4:7-8, John 13:34-35, Colossians 3:14 and so on.

The thing is, love is complex. We use the same word for many situations.

I love coffee and I love my children, but not in the same capacity but the word remains the same. So when we pray love prayers over people, it isn’t going to be the same for every person.

We are going to pray over our marriage different than our children. We are going to pray over those who have grieved us different than our friends. We are going to pray over our homes different than our children’s school!

The important thing to remember is that we can still pray love prayers over every situation and person we encounter, regardless of our feelings towards them. We are loved beyond measure, by a God who sacrificed His son for us. If His love can surpass understanding, we can take time to pray for family, friends and beyond!

Prayer for Love in Your Home

“Father, fill our home with Your love. Help us to be patient and kind with each other, especially on hard days. Teach us to love the way You love—without condition, without keeping score. Let love be the foundation of everything we do under this roof. May everyone who enters our home feel Your love through us. Amen.”

Prayer for Loving Your Spouse

“God, teach me to love my spouse the way You love them. Help me to be patient when I’m frustrated, kind when I’m tired, and forgiving when I’m hurt. Remind me that love is a choice I make daily, not just a feeling. Deepen my love for them and help me show it in ways they can receive it. Amen.”

Prayer for Loving Your Children

“Lord, thank You for the gift of my children. Help me love them well—not perfectly, but faithfully. Give me patience when they test my limits. Help me speak words of life and affirmation over them. Let them feel secure in my love and Yours. Teach me to love them as individuals, meeting them where they are. Amen.”

Prayer for Loving Difficult People

“Jesus, You commanded us to love even our enemies. I’m struggling to love [person]. Soften my heart toward them. Help me see them through Your eyes. Give me grace to forgive and wisdom to set healthy boundaries. Let my love for them be rooted in obedience to You, not in my feelings. Amen.”

Prayer for God’s Love to Fill You

“Father, fill me with Your love today. When I feel empty, remind me that You are the source. When I feel unloved, help me rest in the truth that You love me unconditionally. Let Your love overflow from me to others. I can’t love well on my own—I need You. Amen.”

Prayer for Selfless Love

“God, my love is too often self-centered. I love when it’s convenient, when I get something in return. Teach me to love sacrificially, the way You loved me. Help me put others first. Show me where I’m being selfish and give me the strength to choose love even when it costs me something. Amen.”

Prayer for Love During Conflict

“Lord, we’re in conflict and love feels distant right now. Help us remember that we’re on the same team. Give us grace to listen, humility to apologize, and strength to forgive. Don’t let anger or pride destroy what You’ve built. Restore love between us. Amen.”

Prayer for Patience in Love

“Father, love requires patience and I’m running short. Help me to be slow to anger and quick to listen. Remind me that patience is evidence of Your Spirit in me. Prayer for Forgiveness and Love

“Jesus, I’m holding onto hurt and it’s blocking my ability to love. Help me forgive [person/situation]. I don’t want to carry this anymore. Show me how to release it to You. Heal my heart so I can love freely again. Let Your forgiveness toward me overflow into forgiveness toward others. Amen.”

Prayer for Showing Love Through Actions

Prayer for Valentine’s Day / Love in Marriage

“Lord, thank You for the gift of marriage. As Valentine’s Day approaches, help us not just celebrate with chocolates and cards, but with genuine love and commitment. Rekindle romance, deepen friendship, and strengthen our bond. Remind us why we chose each other and help us choose each other again today. Amen.”

Prayer for Your Children to Shine God’s Love at School

Help them wear your armor everyday so they can walk with peace, righteousness and faith, to have a discerning mind and words that speak truth with love. Amen.“

To Be Loved Means to Pray for Love

To be loved by God means to share this love. We may not be able to tell everyone we love them, we may not be able to show it and many times we may struggle to feel it, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fold our hands in prayer.

Love has the ability to break the chains of bondage, to go beyond space and time. The love Jesus had for us put Him through something no other human has experienced. We are loved by love itself, and what a wonderful thing that is!

So for all this love, we should spread it. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or just a random Tuesday, share God’s love with these love prayers. Cover friends, family and your home in the love God has given you so they can feel it too!
