The presents are wrapped, (most of) the activities are done and the kids will be home for the holidays soon. Christmas is coming, whether you are ready or not!

One of the sureties of life is that time passes, whether we want it to or not.
I love holding onto the Christmas season, grabbing it with both hands and letting it engulf my entire heart and home.
Why? Because it’s coming whether we want it to or not, so we might as well be ready!
More than that, the story is perfect in so many ways and I want to enjoy it every year.
Jesus came, despite what great kings tried to do, despite the lack of shelter, despite those who weren’t ready. Jesus came! And oh what a wonderful comfort He brought to a world full of turmoil.
His coming is a reminder of how great our Lord is. There are so many hints at the Messiah’s coming in the Old Testament. God knew the exact time He would send His son and I have to wonder His own excitement on that first Noel.
God set everything in motion so it would fulfill prophesies and promises but it was more than that, His son was born where and when He needed Him to be.
The story we tell year after year is a story of God fulfilling His covenant, telling of His faithfulness and love for His people. His love for you.
Share with a friend or family member to remind them that Christmas is coming and show them the love during this season!
Ready or Not, Christmas is Coming!
They didn’t have a date like we do, they didn’t sing songs leading up to His birth, as we do, but Mary did know He was coming. As did Joseph.
Christmas was coming for them and Christmas is coming for us!
God knows we need this season to remind us of the gift of love. His gift of love.
But it isn’t a gift solely for ourselves and our families, this hope of the season needs to be shared.
The world must know about this day and what it truly means for them.
Share with neighbours and friends the joy of this season. Share the significance of the candy cane. Share the light of Jesus so others can see in the darkness.
Christmas comes as a reminder to us, it reminds us to slow down, to enjoy the small things, like the simple birth of a great king. It reminds us that we are all children of God, restored by his grace.
And it reminds us of the coming year that is full of unexpected joys and bumps in the road. We don’t have to worry about what is to come because we have a Heavenly Father who loves us enough to send His son to save us! We can go into the coming days with peace in our souls because we are free from condemnation.
Ready or not, Christmas is coming (and what a wonderful thought that is)!
Whatever plans you have for the foreseeable future, be sure they include God. If you don’t already have a devotional ready to use, be sure to pick one up. Journal His word, read your Bible and plan your days with God knowing that Christmas has come and brought you hope, peace, joy and love for you and your home.
