Grab a box of Jenga blocks and get creative!

I hadn’t considered using Jenga blocks for a craft but they work well!
I grabbed a box from the dollar store so I got good bang for my buck and was able to make several ornaments, and do a kid’s craft class making them too!
Both my boys enjoyed this activity too. It’s suitable for young kids (as soon as you are comfortable with them painting they can paint the blocks) all the way up to teenagers who can be more precise in what they design.
You don’t have to paint them either, sharpie would work to decorate too!
The possibilities are almost endless. You can add sparkles, stickers, washi tape…whatever that will adhere to the blocks. Let your little crafters be creative!

Jenga Block Craft
Supplies
- Jenga pieces (4 per ornament)
- Paint (watercolours, acrylic, poster paint, milk paint…experiment)
- Paintbrushes
- Markers (for decoration)
- Other decor (sparkles, stickers)
- Hot glue gun
- String
- Paper insert (I used free printables of Christmas carols)
- Cardboard (for backing)

Directions

- Each craft will need 4 blocks.
- Have your kids paint (or decorate) the blocks however they choose. I find it is best to paint 5 of the 6 sides of each block.
- Let the blocks dry.
- Cut out cardboard, slightly smaller than the finished size of your craft. Have the kids decorate a piece of paper, or print off sheet music to use as the inside portion.
- Use a hot glue gun to adhere the blocks together.
- Adhere the string to the cardboard backing with hot glue (it’s best if the string is between the cardboard and blocks to hold it in place). Then glue the wood pieces to the cardboard.
- Let the hot glue set and voila!
These finished crafts are going to teachers and bus drivers this year, as well as hanging on my Christmas tree. The possibilities are endless, they could be made for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day or Thanksgiving!
