During the storms of motherhood, God is in the wind. He is the wind that blows on a hot day, cooling your face as you stand in the shade of a tree. He is the stinging wind of winter that sends you into the warmth of your home, reminding you of His provisions for cover. He is the strength when it feels like you will be blown over.

God is in the Wind

Sometimes wind comes as an annoyance, whipping your hair around or knocking hats from your head. Sometimes it poses dangers to structures when it is strong. It has sent ships off course, caused planes to delay and sent people running for shelter.
But when we remember that God is in the wind, that His plans and purposes are always for good, we know that we can withstand the gale.
Because God is also in the deep roots of trees, in the foundations of the homes that are built on His truth. Wind is a reminder of His faithfulness to us.
The promises He has made are good, they are honourable and they are for us.
Hold Fast in the Storms of Motherhood

Motherhood is one of those times when the wind seems to blow hardest. It doesn’t matter which direction we turn, it can feel like we are always walking into the wind.
I have felt that way. When the sleep regression ended and I felt like I could breath, another storm would sweep in and knock the wind out of me again. It felt like a never ending cycle in my motherhood journey.
I’d withstand one storm, just get cleaned up from it and then another hurricane would appear.
And yet, we know that the wind makes us stronger. When we lean into it, lean into God, we find His comfort. This was the thought that kept me going through those storms.
“God will not let you blow over”
If our lives, our homes and our families are built on Him, there is no force that can destroy us.
God’s wind is not one that is meant to break us, His wind brings change, it brings upheaval but it is full of goodness and grace. Sometimes we can’t see that in the swirling storm, but if we hold fast to faith and trust His steadfastness, we know we will withstand it.
God’s Wind Works in Mysterious Ways
It was God’s wind that blew the Red Sea apart so His people could walk across dry land. (Exodus 14:21). And sometimes the wind that seems to be blowing in your face is in fact Him blowing aside the struggles you are facing.
It may take all night (as was the case for the Hebrew people) or it might take longer, but don’t despair. God’s wind brings in change, it works in mysterious ways but it is never a wind that was sent to destroy you so long as you seek Him.
During those storms of motherhood that include anxiety, fear, frustration and anger, don’t let the wind sweep you away when it is meant to strengthen you. Turn your face to God, the one who will keep you from blowing over and help you to the other side.

Don’t Let the Wind Sweep You Away
The next time you feel the wind on your cheeks, remember God’s promises. Remember His goodness, His loving spirit and the hope He has given you. He is with you wherever you go, and the wind is a reminder of that.
The storms of motherhood are filled with the wind of God. His strength, His endurance and His faithfulness. Don’t be swept away with thoughts that God doesn’t care or He has forgotten you. He is walking with you, maybe carrying you to the other side!
