Where do we turn when fear is all around us? Our Lord is a Lord of comfort and peace. During any time of uncertainty we can always turn to Him!

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
Psalm 23:4
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
Halloween. A holiday that celebrates fear.
As a Christian, it is even more scary because we know what we are afraid of. It’s not just decorations and costumes, real dangers are lurking if we are not careful.
How do we find comfort in times such as these? How do we navigate it with our children?
The Bible is clear that we will walk through “shadows of death.” We will experience times of fear. There will be seasons of our lives that are dark and stormy. Times when we have to walk a path that no one else wants to follow.
It seems especially dark when there is already so much going on in the world and then people display more death on their front lawns.
But fear not! We can take comfort in someone who will walk with us. Someone who has a rod and staff to guide us through the darkness.

This is how we can choose not to fear. Trusting that Jesus is the good shepherd who will protect us. No matter how much our world is shaken up, He is the rock we can stand on.
Remember this as you prepare yourself and your children for Halloween. However you decide to celebrate it, let Jesus’ rod and staff be part of the day. Don’t let fear consume you. Trust in the good shepherd and walk with him!
