God Doesn't stay home

God is in your home because He is in your heart. And because He is in your heart, He doesn’t just stay home when you leave. He goes with you to every activity, every store and every place of work. Pray for His protection and strength as you head out everyday!

God Doesn’t Stay Home

It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Deuteronomy 31:8

The month of September means back to school and back to routine for most people. Thousands of kids, teens and post-secondary students resume their studies. Hundreds of educators head back for another year. The roads are filled with yellow buses, carpoolers and crossing guards.

Lunches are packed, backpacks are grabbed and everyone heads out the door. Preparations for the day are made for all the schedules and timelines. And yet there is still an element of uncertainty. What will the day bring? Will it be fun or monotonous? How will we overcome challenges?

God Doesn’t Stay Home

The best way to handle these questions is to remember that God doesn’t stay at home. He doesn’t wave to us from the window as we walk down the street. God goes before us.

God doesn’t ask us to leave the safety of our house and head into the unknown world alone. He knows it is dangerous and uncertain. He knows there will be (literal and figurative) mountains to climb. He wants to tackle each and every one of them with us.

His strength is what overcomes the challenges of the day. When we need to be reminded that we are worthy and capable. When we need a nudge to help someone in need. When we need the words to speak kindness and truth. God knows all the things we need and stands with us if we ask him to!

Preparing for your day means asking God to head out ahead of you. It means handing him the anxieties we carry and asking for strength instead.

When we intentionally focus our mind on God as we walk out the door, we can trust that He is with us. We know that He didn’t stay home to mind the house. He is with us.

Send Your Family Out the Door With God

Kids need this more than we know. While we hope their days are filled with laughter and enjoyment, we know there will be disappointment and frustration too. Send them out the door knowing they are not alone!

Pray for them as they put on their shoes and coat. Pray that they would carry the armour of God and be filled with His courage. Pray over your husband, that He would have a discerning mind and compassionate heart.

Pray that they would lean on God in all situations. Pray they would remember that God did not stay home!

And ask God to go before you every day. Don’t ask him to wait at home for you to get back. Let him walk with you to every situation and help you. Be it good or bad, let God go before you, He won’t stay home if you remember His goodness and strength throughout your day!
