It’s Christmas Mama, and even though it feels like a holiday for everyone but you, this season was created for you. Set aside the worry and seek the joy in having children and being a Mama at Christmas time.

Are the presents wrapped? Are the cookies made? Is your house clean? Are your Christmas jammies washed and ready to be worn? Is your to-do list longer than the fridge door?

You feel overwhelmed. You feel tired. Your legs need to be shaved, but the dog will get a better bath than you will.

Somehow your Christmas decorations are not where you first placed them. The stockings definitely will not be hung with care (they will be tossed randomly). And Santa will have to settle for leftover cookies with cashew milk because the regular milk is gone.

You want to sit and watch a Christmas movie that doesn’t involve a children’s character. You want to bake, alone. You want to wrap a gift without picking off 10 pieces of dog hair from the tape.

You can feel your kids vibrating in the other room. You’ve managed to keep the tree intact thus far but it won’t last much longer. You’re tempted to either let the kids open all their gifts or cancel the whole thing.

You’re in a store, overwhelmed by everything you need to purchase. You’re praying you can keep this grocery bill under a certain amount. The lady at the cash next to you offers a free turkey. You want to hug her.

Your neighbours set up amazing Christmas displays. You walk around at night and enjoy the lights. The toddler talks about it endlessly for days. His joy is contagious.

The joy of the season sometimes gets lost in the day-to-day mundane. Your energy will never match the main character of a Christmas movie but you will still have a magical Christmas because…

Take a minute to hit pause. Take a minute to wrap yourself in your kids’ excitement. Take a minute to eat your advent chocolate alone. Take a minute Mama because Christmas is for you too.
It’s Your Christmas Mama
Jesus came for more than your children. He came for you too Mama. So while you are making memories with your kids this year, remember He is caring for your soul too. He will comfort you, love you and give you rest throughout this time.
It’s Christmas for you Mama.

In all seriousness, you know that deep down you’re still a kid too. A kid with a to-do list but still a kid. So enjoy it. It’s Christmas Mama and you’ve earned it 😉
