8 Easter Verses

8 Easter verses to read and think about this season!

As we head into the season of Easter, it is good to step back to the Bible and read, reread and think about what Easter really means.

It is more than bunnies and easter eggs, while those things do have important significance (new life!) they shouldn’t monopolize our thoughts. When we dig into scripture, and really think about what Jesus did for us, it puts a new perspective on this holiday.

It’s more than new life, it’s life everlasting, if we choose to follow Him!

Easter Verses

Here are 8 Easter verses to read this season!

For your Easter morning…

In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!’

Luke 24:5-6

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Matthew 28:6

How glorious that morning must have been. To walk to the tomb in mourning and to find that He had risen! The man they loved, the man who endured a death that was not His to bear…and yet death could not hold him.

Everything that had been prophesied, everything that had been promised, it became real on that Easter morning. Oh what joy, He has risen!

For your faith…

Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’

John 11:25-26

Faith is believing in something that we may not fully understand. How can death be conquered? We have no scientific way to explain it, we only have faith, enough faith to believe in Jesus so we can live.

For life everlasting…

For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.

Romans 6:9

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:20-22

Jesus overcame the world, including death. Part of our world’s natural process is death, nothing can live forever. But Jesus resurrection goes beyond our world and into the realm of our Heavenly Father.

We are not bound to this life, it does not need to end when our bodies die. We have been offered life everlasting through Jesus death and resurrection!

Old Testament prophesy

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.

Hosea 6:2

It’s good to go back and reread the prophesies, and the promises that God made in the old testament. All those scriptures, all those hopes and assurances came true on that day when Jesus rose again.

It happened as it had been foretold, which not only gives truth to the Old Testament but also assures us of God’s love.

The well known scripture that gives us life

For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

Live Your Life For Jesus!

These Easter verses remind us of who Jesus was and who He is. His life and death gave us the everlasting life we need. When we read these Easter verses, we should meditate on not only what we received with His death but also the fulfillment of the promise made by God.

Easter is that final fulfillment, that death can be conquered and we will not have to die for our sins.

So live everyday like it is easter. Like Jesus has risen and we want to live with Him, in a life that leads others towards Him too! Share these Easter verses with friends so they can be encouraged too!
