6 Scriptures for Spring – When God Opens Up the World

A season of new life means we need to dive into scriptures for spring! Here are some of my favourites.

Spring is one of those seasons that has two faces. There is the end of the cold and snow (for those of us in northern parts of the world), which brings mud and every pair of boots, jackets and hats imaginable. But by the end of spring we feel the suns full power and watch as God’s beauty takes shape in the flowers and trees.

As you enter this season, wherever you live, take some time to meditate on these scriptures for spring and God’s word for this coming season!

Here are my 6 favourite scriptures for spring!

Scriptures for Spring

Song of Solomon 2:11-12

See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come.

Does spring make you want to sing? It makes me want to sing! God is good in all seasons but some seasons fill our hearts with a different kind of joy and it makes us want to sing. Spring is one of those seasons.

Spend time praising God this spring for all He has done!

1 Corinthians 3:6-7

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

What a wonderful reminder that our hands may be the ones to put the seeds into the ground but it is God who gives it growth. We don’t have control over anything but our own actions, and even then sometimes we can’t trust ourselves! This is why we need to put our trust in God.

As you enter the new season, pray that God would give growth to whatever seeds you are planting, literal or figurative!

Isaiah 43:19

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

I love the imagery in this verse (say hello to the English teacher in me)! The idea that God is creating something new in the wasteland is so powerful. He makes all things new! And we see that in the spring, spoken in the Bible to solidify this truth.

Lamentations 3:22-23

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Every morning, every week, every season God’s compassions are new. We don’t carry the sins from yesterday into today, God has washed us clean. Great is His faithfulness, in every season!

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

The idea that we can reap a harvest (typically we think in the fall) means we have to plant in the season of planting; spring! Sometimes our good works feel monotonous (hello laundry and dishes) but we know that Christian homemaking is a job that sows seeds so our children can grow and blossom.

Let the spring be a reminder of God’s work in your life and home!

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

Spring is a time when we look ahead at new possibilities. I find spring is a season that becomes unexpectedly busy because God has new plans in store for me. Good plans, and I love coming out of winter to see what goodness He has in store for me!
