Finding the perfect gift for mom can be hard. What do you get a person who has everything or doesn’t need anything (because they don’t have time to use it anyways)?
What do moms dream about having, what items are on their mental wish list that they never write down?
Does she need slippers? A mug? New earrings? While those things are nice, here are what moms (especially moms with young kids) really want!

Personal Chauffeur Who Will Buckle Kids In/Out of Car Seats
I don’t like driving around town. Navigating streets and other cars, while trying to keep a mental list of all your errands is stressful. Add kids into the mix (“What does that sign say Mama? Mom? Mama? Mom? That sign!”) and it’s downright miserable.
Moms everywhere want to be able to jump in the car and go where they need to go without freezing their fingers on buckles or attempting to back their enormous vehicle into tiny parking spots (while explaining to their toddler why the store sign is blue and not red).
By the time we get into a store we are frazzled, irritated and likely to have forgotten the reason we came in the first place!
Taking kids out shopping would be so much easier if the getting there and back was taken care of!
Wish list: Someone to buckle kids into seats and drive everywhere
A Meal Plan with All Ingredients on Hand
I don’t mind cooking. What I don’t like is planning the meals. Deciding what to eat for the week, then purchasing the right amount of ingredients feels impossible. Throw in picky eaters and it’s an exercise in frustration.
Moms want easy to make meals with all the ingredients on hand (and if the meat is already defrosted, that’s a bonus). When we wake up in the morning if we don’t have to ask ourselves the dreaded question “What should we eat for supper?” It would make our day so much better.
Oh and if the kids could eat it without complaining, that would be great too!

A Fantastic Fun Day with Our Kids and Then a Break
Memorable days with kids are the best. Lots of sunshine or snow or adventures…whatever the day may bring. Moms live for those kinds of days, it’s what brings joy to motherhood.
But it’s also exhausting, and we need a break! We need to recharge from our amazing day. We don’t want to wash the loads of dirty clothes leftover from the day or empty the lunchbox full of snack containers.
We want to just drink tea in silence and maybe scroll through the 439 pictures we took of our kids.
We love our tiny humans and want to spend time with them but then we also want to feel human afterwards. Being the bag carrier, snack provider and sunscreen applier is a hard job!
Wish list: Make memories and then relax
Someone to Deep Clean Our House
I can vacuum. I can wipe down sinks. I can do laundry.
What I can’t do is clean the windows. I can’t vacuum and mop under furniture. I can’t scrub cupboards or clean my oven.
Why? Because inevitably when I am trying to do those things someone comes along and takes my cleaning rag or starts spraying the cleaning solution everywhere. You start to wonder if it’s worth the extra mess you will have to clean up just trying to clean.
And to be honest, after doing basic hygiene on yourself, your children and the dog, you don’t want to clean another blessed thing. Therefore the deep cleaning never happens.
Wish list: (a deep cleaned) Clean house
Pictures of Our Children with Us in Them
Kids and dad – snap cute picture. Kids swinging on the swings – snap cute picture. Kids and dog – snap cute picture.
Moms love pictures of their kids. They love capturing special moments in the day and reflecting on them. But they never have pictures of themselves with their kids.
Always the photographer, never the photographed.
A special picture with our kids is always treasured.

For a more tangible gift idea, moms can always use more encouragement in their lives! Get some beautiful scripture cards (check out my Etsy store for some options) or devotionals to grow in their faith!
Practical, Tangible Things Moms Want for Christmas
I know, you’ve read through this and most of these things aren’t practical. Moms can wish though can’t they?
We know our days of being needed won’t last forever. One day we will clean sticky fingerprints from the windows for the last time. But sometimes in the thick of things we dream about how our lives could be made easier.
If the impossible isn’t possible, there are a few other things moms like!
- Pants with pockets (high-waisted mom jeans so there’s no muffin-top is the best fashion creation to date) or check out these lined leggings for cooler days!
- If you don’t know a mom’s size or what specifically she likes, gift cards are always welcome
- Moms also like to be able to use those gift cards on a solo shopping trip (because we aren’t going to get a chauffeur anytime soon 😆) so…babysitting?
- Coffee or tea is always welcome
- Nice smelling hand soap, especially during cold season when all we do is wash our hands
- Fun cosmetic or personal care products (face masks, hand cream selections, lip balm etc)
- Personalized memorabilia with children’s names, pictures or related items
- Offer to pay for a subscription to something, magazine, monthly box of goodies, their favourite app…something just for them that keeps giving all year
- Scripture cards or devotionals because we could always use a little more Jesus in our lives(!!!)
- Advent calendars – let’s be real, I need a coffee or chocolate or cosmetic advent calendar in January after all the festivities are done and the dark days of winter set in…grab one at half price and let me enjoy something special everyday!

More than anything, give those moms a hug and tell them their kids are the best kids you’ve ever laid eyes on. At the end of the day, moms want to feel like they are doing a good job, to know they are loved and appreciated for all the things they do actually get finished in a day.
What moms want for Christmas is to feel appreciated and to enjoy the season with their families.
