We build Christian homes on earth so we can raise our families. The wonderful thing is that we can focus on a Heavenly home after we are done with our earthly home. God has a prepared room for us and is waiting with open arms for us to arrive!
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
John 14:2
Do you prepare a room when you plan to have guests over? Maybe you have a dedicated guest space so it is always ready for whoever shows up. It’s likely a generic space, something that can suit the needs of anyone. Or maybe it’s an adult child’s room with some of their memorabilia left on shelves or the walls.
In either case, you probably don’t redecorate for every guest. You change the sheets, fluff the pillows, restock the towels and that’s that. A room that is ready for anyone.
A Prepared Room
It’s amazing to think that in God’s house, there are many rooms, enough for each of us. Not only that but Jesus is planning our arrival. Just like any host, they are excited about our coming and have everything ready.
Yes, that’s right, they are preparing rooms but not generic rooms for just anyone. These rooms are prepared specifically for us, because our Heavenly Father knows us on an intimate level.
We live our lives in our earthly homes. A house or apartment or condo, maybe changing our dwelling over the years. To know that one day we will have a place to settle forever is comforting. When our days on earth are done, there will be a beautiful spot to live out eternity.
While our human brains are limited in the knowledge of what these rooms will look like, we still can imagine. Perhaps they will be light and bright and filled with peace. Maybe our favourite music will be playing and the temperature in the room will be perfect.
Regardless, I thank God he loves us enough to have a place ready. He won’t have to scramble to find a room. He won’t tell us he’s run out of space. He will welcome us with open arms. He’s been preparing for our arrival for a long time.
Take Comfort
I take comfort knowing there is a prepared room for me. That my Lord has everything planned out for me in this life and then will be ready to accept me in Heaven. The struggles we face today are only a momentary thing. God is forever and His everlasting love is waiting whenever the time arrives.
I pray that you take some time this week to thank God that he has a prepared room just for you! Thank him for sending Jesus to get it ready for us. What an amazing God we have!
