When we have a friendship with God, it’s more than having someone to call when we have a bad day. It’s finding refuge on the days of struggle and rejoicing on the days of triumph! God promises to be with us, to cover us and help us through every circumstance, if we listen to His word and follow His ways.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Psalm 91:4
Life can be a battle. Or at least it can feel that way. We arm ourselves, prepare ourselves and head out into the world to fight.
It’s messy and upsetting. It’s frustrating and heartbreaking. It’s new experiences and learning curves. And it’s finding refuge in God.
God is our shelter, the strong tower we can run to when we feel tired, lost or simply need to be reminded about who we are in Christ (we are children of God, and He knows our names!) Finding refuge in Him is one of the benefits of following His will for our lives.
Abiding in Christ is difficult. Being rooted in him and following his instructions isn’t always easy. But it is worth it. Anything good takes some work and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28)!

Finding refuge in God is where you will find your strength.
Finding Refuge in God
God’s faithfulness will get us through the darkest nights and hardest days. We abide so we can lean on him.
There will be bumps and bruises but if we walk with God by our side, he will pick us up and brush us off.
As a mom I pick up my kids when they fall. I cover them with hugs and kisses and tell them I love them, then let them go again. Just as God does with us. He covers us with his wings so we can find refuge in those times of difficulty. He shields us so we can take a breath or recover. Then we can get up knowing He has strengthened us and move forward again.
That’s the real prize for abiding in Christ. The hope we have in God. If He can move mountains, He also can protect us. Sometimes we need more than strength to get through a day. We need peace. We need someone to shield us. And that’s what God will do.
Don’t be afraid to take a break and let God care for you. God doesn’t ask us to work until we are too tired to do anything else. He asks us to seek him, seek his friendship and share in his blessings. One of which is his protection and promise of peace.
Some days we need to take a break to recharge. And it’s more than recharging our batteries to be powered at full strength. Sometimes it’s letting go of our worries and letting God carry them.
So take time this week to let God cover you with his wings. Let him be your shield against whatever battle you are facing, be it a grumpy toddler or a leaky faucet. God wants you to take time to rest and let him handle things.
Enjoy abiding in him. Grow closer to God, share in His friendship. Finding refuge means seeking Him, seeking His strength and enjoying the peace He has to offer you!
