Sing to the Lord! Praise God for His Faithfulness – Exodus 15:1

I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously;
the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

Exodus 15:1

How often do we sing to the Lord because he has triumphed? How often do we pull out tambourines and dance because of His miraculous deeds? Probably not very often.

Last week I wrote about Moses. There is so much written about him and it is such an amazing story I had to keep going.

After Moses (reluctantly) went to Pharaoh and *finally* got the Israelites released (after 10 plagues), they left Egypt.

However, they weren’t “out of the woods” (or out of Egypt) and away from danger. God hardened Pharaoh’s heart yet again and he chased after them.

When the Israelites got to the Red Sea they had no way to cross over. So God instructed Moses to raise his staff and part the waters so the Israelites could walk across on dry land!

Amazing!

There also was a dark cloud and fire and the Egyptian chariots being washed into the sea…if you want details check Exodus 14.

Sing to the Lord, praise Him for His faithfulness!

Sing to the Lord!

It is a story worthy of an action movie. A hero, a villain, a great chase and a victory. But it is God’s victory, not man’s. God is the one who performed all the wonderful things. God is the one who saved the Israelites.

And so they danced and sang. They brought out tambourines and sang about the horse and rider being thrown into the sea.

How amazing that must have been. Years of slavery washed away! They were free. God had been faithful to them.

Will you do something for me? Will you share this post with a friend to encourage them today?

God Is Faithful

God still performs miracles, although they aren’t always in the form of a sea being parted. God’s faithfulness is presented everyday and we should sing for joy! We should clap our hands and bang our drums everyday because we have woken up to God’s mercy.

Okay maybe we don’t have to break out the drums everyday, but we still should praise God for what he has done.

When He gives your child the bravery to climb aboard the big yellow bus, sing for joy. When a neighbour gives you hand-me-downs that will last your boys several years, sing for joy. When God holds your tender heart in His hands after it has been broken, sing a song of joy amidst the sadness.

There is joy even in the darkest of places because the darkness cannot overcome the light. And when we remember our Mighty Warrior’s love for us, when we steep in his goodness we remember it is His joy that flows through us.

This is what gives us the strength to continue being the Godly homemaker He made us to be. When we choose an attitude of joy over anything else, then we can love like Jesus loves and fill our homes with His light.

So what wonderful thing will you sing about this week? Look for God’s goodness everyday and praise him for it. He doesn’t have to send down fire and part waters to be worthy of song and dance. Even hum a little worship song as you go about your day to thank God for all he has done!
