Needing some easy Christmas crafts for those young toddlers? These are some of our favourites that my boys enjoyed doing and then hanging up around the house for Christmas decor!

Christmas Crafts for Young Toddlers

I love Christmas. And I love crafting. I’m always on the lookout for a cute craft to do, whether it’s garland, a wreath or ornaments. I was just itching to do something with E too. He isn’t quite 2, so I knew it would have to be simple. Something easy and with no sparkles!

Christmas Crafts for Toddlers

I started with colouring paper ornaments. (Scroll to the bottom for your free printable!) I thought about making them into a banner but decided we could do more with them if they were ornaments.

Don’t forget to write your child’s name and the year on the back of their ornaments!

So he and I coloured them together. Then I cut the ornaments out and punched a hole in the top of each one. I took pipe cleaners, cut them in half and let E put some beads on each one. We threaded the pipe cleaner into the hole of the ornaments and I twisted it into a loop.

These crafts also make cute gifts for family and fit nicely in an envelope for easy mailing!

E was very interested in putting beads on pipe cleaners so we moved on to making candy canes. We used the other half of the pipe cleaner and threaded beads on them until they were full. I wrapped each end around a bead and shaped it into a candy cane. He loves them. He walks around hooking them on to different objects around the house!

As I said, simple crafts that aren’t too messy. And you probably can get the materials at the dollar store! I did end up getting the beads at Walmart, mostly because I wanted specific colours and not a rainbow (and the dollar store didn’t meet my stringent criteria).

It doesn’t really matter though, use what is available. Your kid won’t care about the colour scheme, they’ll just enjoy creating something!

It’s really about making something different and at E’s stage, fine motor skills. Plus he and I sat together and enjoyed an activity that was different from the norm. I will admit his digger made an appearance at the end and slowly moved all the beads from one bowl to another (2 beads at a time I might add). When E gets an idea in his head he makes sure the job gets done!

Make Christmas Memorable With Your Toddlers

I love making Christmas memorable for my kids without spending too much money. There are plenty of ideas out there, including my Nativity Trail Mix, which is sure to be a hit in your home!

But if you are looking for an easy craft to do with your (young) toddler or kids, this might be right up your alley! Give it a go, you never know what might peak their interest and watch them explore in a different activity. Plus you can start getting your house ready for Christmas!
