It can be hard to find the happy balance between planning for tomorrow and not worrying about it. God wants us to cast our burdens on Him but we also need to plan for the days ahead!

Commit your work to the LORD,
Proverbs 16:3
and your plans will be established
I am a master of worry. I can anticipate any and every issue that could arise, come up with potential solutions and then agonize over anything I can’t hypothetically solve. I do this because more times than not, my overthinking, overanalyzing and overworrying actually was beneficial.
Not healthy but beneficial. I end up in a situation where I have to problem-solve or use some quick thinking. One of my worst fears is having one of these situations and not being prepared for it!
Don’t Worry About Tomorrow
Of course, the bible says we shouldn’t worry about tomorrow because it will have enough worry for itself (Matthew 6:34). But that isn’t to say we shouldn’t prepare for it. Oh yes, we can still plan. We can put ideas together and be ready for the days ahead. Especially with young kids, it’s good to have activities and meals ready for when they need them.
However, our plans need to be for God. At least, we should commit ourselves to God. This means walking with God. It means praying, reading your bible and including God in your plans.
Let God Make the Plan
Waking up every morning and asking God what His plan is for the day is a good start. Open your heart to God’s direction and work out your day together. The errands that need run, meals to be made and cleaning to be done, commit it to God. Those simple tasks are just as important as the work meetings, presentations and emails that need sent.
God tells us not to worry about our day because anxiety does nothing for us. It does not help the day go smoothly or bring about solutions to problems. It only takes the joy out of our living.
But when we make preparations and include God in them, we know He is guiding our steps. We don’t have to worry because He will be with us in whatever situation arises.
Even if God asks us to make a sudden, unexpected change, we can trust that He knows what He needs us to do. We don’t have to worry about the days ahead because God has it taken care of!
So whatever preparations you are making, involve God in them. Wake up in the morning and ask God what He wants done for the day and begin your planning around that. Don’t worry about tomorrow but instead commit yourself to God and let Him establish your plans!
