I’m in the midst of the postpartum hair loss. If you aren’t familiar with this, it’s a normal part of post pregnancy. The hair cycle minus the hormones means the “luscious locks” that grow during pregnancy start to fall out.
It’s a little concerning at first, especially if you aren’t expecting it (like my first time around, I thought I was going bald)! But as time wears on the hair grows back.
The amazing thing is that God knows how many hairs are on our head, which I take to mean he knows how many will fall out! He has them numbered, he cares that much about us. Seems like small potatoes, the hairs on our heads and yet God knows.
This is comforting, especially during the early months with a baby. So many things change, physically, mentally, emotionally, and it can feel lonely at times. It’s a personal journey, unique to each mother.
But guess what? God knows and God cares.
He knows every ache in our bodies, every sleepless night and heavy eyelid. Just as he knows every hair that we lose. He cares about all of it!
He asks us to do difficult things all the time. Be it motherhood, learn a new skill or walk the straight and narrow. God knows our struggles, our daily inconveniences, our frustrations.
We can take comfort in knowing that he knows and he cares. Sometimes that’s enough to get us through the rough patches. Even the small things, God understands. If he has the hairs on our head numbered you can bet he knows us at an intimate level!
So fear not. God cares about us. Carry that with you this week. He cares about every little thing that happens to you. Every hair you lose, every time you stub your toe or burn your finger, it’s in his hands. He will walk you through all the triumphs and difficulties. You have not been forgotten!
If you feel lonely or left out, uncertain or confused, if you are excited or grateful, remember to turn to God. He cares about all that we do, big and small. He will never leave or forsake us!
